Industry Guidance on Misclassification of Waste Published

Today (1st June) the waste and resource management industry published an easy to use guide on common misconceptions in waste classification and how they can be avoided.

The guidance has been put together by the waste industry classification group, a collection of industry specialists of which our own Dr Anne Woolridge is a member, to aid producers, carriers, brokers, consultants and managers in correctly classifying their waste. Topics highlighted are the application of European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes and Hazard Property Codes, alongside how to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date data to aid classification and use of Safety Data Sheets.

The guide has been welcomed by the Environment Agency and is hosted on the websites for the Environmental Services Association (ESA), CIWM and the Right Waste, Right Place campaign.
