For correct waste management practices to be effective and applied universally throughout the healthcare organisation’s services, it is essential all members of staff undertaking clinical practices are trained by competent people. Effectively delivered training significantly reduces risk and costs.
Independent Safety Services Limited offers a wide range of healthcare waste management training courses each tailored to suit the client’s needs and delivered by experienced trainers. Courses are aimed at different specialities within a healthcare organisation and for each service provider. We have courses for porters, cleaners and domestic services staff, as well as courses for clinicians and clinical managers and those involved in the transportation of healthcare waste. There are several delivery methods that ISSL offer depending on the client’s requirements, including train the trainer and ward level training.
ISSL has experience delivering training in high secure areas and prison environments. Training teams are CRB checked.
The training will explain how to manage waste generated during the delivery of healthcare. The content is fully aligned with HTM 07-01, Safe Management of Healthcare Waste. We use your waste costs and pictures from your site practices where they are available. Where we have conducted audits for a site or multiple sites, we link the training to audit findings. These factors personalise the training provided to the client and help relate the course material to staff.
Examples of the courses we run are:
- General waste awareness training
- Pharmaceutical training
- Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
- Management of offensive waste
- Document control and record keeping
- Waste management for laboratories and research centres
